It's a little baffling because
it works in IE8 for us. However, another customer sent us an HTML

<p>Do you have the same issue on <a href=

?</p></div>ricktag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/3689122009-09-12T09:51:29Z2009-09-12T09:51:34ZWebsite widget error on IE8<div><p>I'm having the same issue, and it also happens on the test page.
Which OS are you testing it with? I'm testing with IE8 on Windows 7
RC.</p>
<p>(it wouldn't be the first OS-specific browser bug...)</p></div>sborsjetag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/3689122009-09-14T08:03:18Z2009-09-14T08:03:25ZWebsite widget error on IE8<div><p><a href=

<p>Heres my test page which is very similar: <a href=

and exhibits the same error.</p></div>Andrewtag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/3689122009-09-16T16:53:32Z2009-09-16T16:53:32ZWebsite widget error on IE8<div><p><strong>sborsje:</strong> The problem isn't OS specific as I can
reproduce the problem on my test pages, but not on Lighthouse
(where it works flawlessly). I need to spend some more time
figuring out exactly what's going on. It's a little baffling to me
that I can create the problem on a simple HTML page, but a fully
functional site like Lighthouse doesn't have a problem at all with
it.</p></div>Kyle Neath (GitHub Staff) tag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/3689122009-09-30T22:07:53Z2009-09-30T22:07:58ZWebsite widget error on IE8<div><p>I have the exact same problem on IE8</p>

down to the following block of JS include code:<br>
<code><script type="text/javascript" defer="defer"></code>
<code>var baseSslHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ?
"https://" : "http://");</code>
<code>document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + baseSslHost +
"SUBDOMAIN.tenderapp.com/tender_widget.js'
type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));</code></p>
<p>For some reason, removing the 'defer' attribute from the script
tag (so it's just <code><script
type="text/javascript"></code>) seems to make it work.</p></div>Sam DeFabbia-Kanetag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/3689122009-11-02T15:50:20Z2009-11-02T15:50:20ZWebsite widget error on IE8<div><p>That's strange, we added that defer attribute specifically for
an IE problem with the widget.</p></div>ricktag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/3689122009-11-06T15:48:49Z2009-11-06T15:48:50ZWebsite widget error on IE8<div><p>Simply creating the tags manually instead of using
document.write worked for us:</p>
<pre>
<code><script src='https://ourproduct.tenderapp.com/tender_widget.js' type='text/javascript'></script></code>
</pre>
<p>Seems to be an easy enough workaround, but it would be good if
the documentation was updated accordingly.</p></div>Topher Fangiotag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/3689122009-11-24T16:43:29Z2009-11-24T16:43:33ZWebsite widget error on IE8<div><p>removing the defer="defer" attribute worked for us. But we also
had to make the script right above the tag since it was no longer
defered. If tender could do something a bit better for IE support
on their end it would be much appreciated.</p></div>Dantag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/3689122010-01-21T19:36:21Z2010-01-21T19:36:23ZWebsite widget error on IE8<div><p>After much trouble, we found out that this was causing problems
for us on SOME pages because it was attempting to append a child to
the document.body before everything had fully loaded. This is why
the original defer='true' was put in. Updating the code to what is
shown below fixed all problems in IE7,8 and doesn't appear to show
any problems with FF or Chrome.</p>
<pre>
<code><script defer='true' src='https://ourproduct.tenderapp.com/tender_widget.js' type='text/javascript'></script></code>

to solve the problem for some users, and <em>cause</em> the problem
for others.</p></div>rick
