Does it matter where users place a hashtag (e.g., #ignore) in an email as long as it's above the 'reply above this line' line?

I have a user who has replied to a discussion with #ignore several times but the emails for the discussion are still hitting her inbox. She put the hashtag in the first line in her email rather than immediately above the // reply above this line but I think this should still work. I don't see any explicit documentation on where the hashtags need to be placed.

   Can you get the user to try to add a space between # and the command?
