Use Tender as a Forum?

Hi,

Is it possible to use Tender as a Forum? Is there any function that is missing for this kind of use?

Also, can I customize Tender? For instance, am I able to remove the 'attach file' function available when you are replying to a discussion?

Regards,
Robert

  1. Tender was actually build off the principles of a forum code base called Beast that was written in ruby.

We highly encourage community interaction in many cases and Tenders core is a discussion based ui, to match a forum. So indeed, Tender could certainly be used as a forum.

Forums can get insanely complex with their features and settings options though. Tender is definitely designed to maintain a simple discussion workflow and does not contain a lot of the complex moderator and permissions features that forums typically have.

I'm sorry, right now we don't have an option to disable file attachments.

  2. Thanks for your reply. Got it.

But what about customization, to what extent can you tweak Tender?

Also, can you add the function that you have to log in to even view a thread? Which means that Tender is completely closed if you do not log in.

    Many thanks,
    R

  3. Yes we have private sites.

We're also toying with the idea of supporting community forums. Basically, they'd work exactly the same as Tender discussions, without having to go through the open => resolved state workflow. We have an experiment right now, but there are a number of questions to answer first. Attachment support is one of them. Disabling them for these 'community forums' might be a good option. I'm not sure yet, I just know I don't want to add a checkbox option for it.
