Mapping Tender to www.example.com/support for better SEO
Hi,
I've taken a good look around the discussions and knowledge base but can't exactly find an answer to this question.
We've been told that the content within our tender knowledge base will work better for our SEO rankings if it's not on a subdomain eg support.example.com, and instead on our main domain www.example.com. So we would like to point our customers to www.example.com/support/ (as we use support consistently as our 'help' terminology) for them to be able to see our Tender site.
All I could find was the option about the /help subdirectory and
this discussion which doesn't say how to do it:
http://help.tenderapp.com/discussions/questions/3092-can-we-have-ou...
So:
1. is it possible to point people to www.example.com/support/ to
see our Tender site (rather than /help)
2. How would we do it?
As an aside, we've configured our Tender to just display the knowledge base and not the discussions as we deal with those elsewhere.
Thanks!
Jono

Once you sign up, the '/help' option is just a checkbox you turn on in settings.
Since you'll have to set up a reverse proxy anyway on your webserver, you can easily just tell it to rewrite /support/ to /help/.

it's on the first page of /settings

Hi Courtenay,
Thanks. We are signed up so I have seen the option in settings was just a
bit wary of selecting it before I know what will happen.
And I did see the note about the reverse proxy in the previous thread -
I've just never heard of it before and was hoping there might be some
directions.
So I'm guessing my path is:
1. Learn how to do a reverse proxy
2. Set the custom domain to www.oursite.com
3. Select the /help option (and make sure our reverse proxy is rewriting
support to point to help)
Sound right? I'll ask the rest of our dev team if they are able to help me
do this and SOS if we're still stuck.
Thanks,
Jono

Yes, that's pretty much it.
