Is it possible to somehow distinguish our paid customers vs our non paid customers. Our paid customers get a higher response time.

Yes, you can set your paid users as "Important" - http://help.tenderapp.com/kb/general-use/user-class-important-beta. This gives them access to categories and kb articles you've flagged.
