Hey Dmitry,
I understand your frustration of not having the attachments process. Would you say this happens to you consistently, or do you notice the behavior mostly on certain days or times of day?
I know we put the (processing asset) indication, but I agree that this could be made more clear. Do you have any ideas on how we could reflect what is going on in a way that won't confuse your customers?

Hi,
Thanks. No, this doesn't happen consistently, this is pretty rare.
It would be great if you add some kind of error prevention, because the asset is still in "processing" status, see this thread http://help.dimsemenov.com/discussions/problems/1757-issue-with-add...

Hi Dmitry,
Attachments processing is usually instant, but from time to time, we get a load of jobs, and attachments need a minute to catch up.
In that particular case though, it seems there was an error processing the attachment (the resize to thumbnail did not work). Maybe the image got corrupted when it was uploaded or something. It feels like you uploaded a new image after that, so I'm not gonna investigate more unless you ask me too.
In any case, it is safe to contact us when attachments take more than 5min to process: it means we have too many jobs and we can beef up our hardware momentarily, or there was an exception processing a particular attachment. In both cases, we can help you with that, so don't hesitate to reach out.
Let me know if you have questions or if I can help you with anything else.

Hello,
This happened again, simple text file was processing for 5 hours. Not cool.

Dmitry,
You are absolutely right. There shouldn't be this kind of delay. We will investigate this further. Also, in the meantime, please let us know when you see other examples.

Hi Dmitry,
What timezone are you on? I wonder if it has to do with a particular time of the day.

My timezone - UTC+2
I just attached a few files to my replies 10 minutes ago - and everything was fine. Maybe that was some kind of temporary glitch...

Attachments are processed using background jobs. We have different types of jobs with different priorities, and typically when attachments are delayed, it means that we suddenly get a lot of jobs and so the attachments jobs are delayed in the queue.
I'll bump the priority of attachment jobs either today or tomorrow (I have a few other things to close before that) and we'll see if that helps. I'll let you know when the change has been made.

Hi Dmitry,
I increased the priority of attachment processing. Let's see if that helps.

Hi,
I've got into this issue one more time and I think I've found what causes this.
Asset is not processed when file name is longer then X number of characters, it would be great if you cut it automatically.

Hi Dmitry,
Sounds like you're right. This only happens for images, but good catch! I have a fix pending. I'll let you know when it goes live.

Hi Dmitry,
This should be fixed now. I just truncate the filename.
