Edit User Profile settings to not be able to update email preferences - support
In order to make things more efficient and to prevent unnecessary changes on our profiles where users should not be adding email preferences to, it would be extremely beneficial if users cannot alter their own email preferences and that this is locked down to support personnel only. If this is not possible, to at least have the option to lock these down. We have several employees including themselves on things that they do not necessarily need to see but they need access to the site so there is a two fold issue here. Thanks for the consideration!

I suggest you make certain categories private by default in that case, or utilize the beta/important flag on those categories.

If they’re on Private, will it prevent users from adding this to their profiles without the assistance of a support team member ?

Private category means discussions are private by default, so no-one else can see them other than support.
