articles and each team's articles would be provided in each
language by the support team, but as you know this is a fluid
process in the beta, and we're talking all recommendations from
actual users so we get it right.

KB articles would be displayed (if available) in the user's
selected locale, but if there is no article, like everything else,
it should default to English.

We also aren't planning on having a side-by-side viewer, but
I'll discuss it with the dev team. Once we get past a couple
upcoming milestones (timeline several weeks at least), we'll have
the team's attention on i18n and that's when we'll be making a lot
of new tickets and dispositioning them. In the meantime I'm leaving
these open so we can get your suggestions into our scope
process.

Timtag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/72891742011-05-18T19:15:18Z2011-05-18T19:15:18ZLocalized Knowledge Base articles

My personal thinking at the moment is that way I'd like to see
it work is that we are able to publish our knowledge base articles
in English, but would have a Google translate type of
capability built-in that would allow the end user to change the
view in any given supported language.

For us, auto translation may be imperfect in some cases since we
often use scientific lingo and technical terms so we would ideally
want the option to not use an auto-translate capability
for any given article that we decide must be correctly and fully
translated manually. Then when you choose a language button to
translate, it would provide you with the manually converted
document instead.

Just another 2 cents worth... thanks for listening!

petertag:help.tenderapp.com,2008-11-12:Comment/72891742011-05-18T21:47:31Z2011-05-18T21:47:31ZLocalized Knowledge Base articles

Too complex.

You can provide the text of any article in any language
yourself. So
you can use google translate if you wish, and store the result of
that
text for that given language. Or you could pay someone to
professionally translate the article.

Courtenay
