E-mailing people is making them cross

Guys,

A small but vocal part of our community is getting very angry with Tender Support - they don't want to receive an e-mail each time a support ticket has an update and the settings to stop receiving e-mail are both hard to find in Tender and don't appear to be working. See here: http://support.redbubble.com/discussions/problems/1268-cancel-my-ac...

Solutions would be to allow us to edit their settings or to make it easier for them to see their settings (and for the settings to work).

Any suggestions?

Peter

I apologize for the issue. I'm pushing out a bunch of small tweaks today, so I'll get this resolved soon.

The settings appear to work for me. When figuring out who to email in a notification, we use the enable_email_notifications field to filter those people out. I'm adding a hard check just before sending the email though, just to catch any edge case that was missed.

I'll see about adding the checkboxes so you can modify other users' settings.

Would you be interested in a site-wide default that disables email notifications for new users? I feel like email is such a common thing though. I'm thinking about it anyway.

One final thing, we added an #ignore email command that lets you opt out of receiving emails in a specific thread. We'll be adding this feature to the main UI soon. You can also use #unsubscribe if you're accidentally subscribed to a category. Some people were subscribing and wondering why they were getting all the category's discussions. We do include info at the bottom of every email with how to use these commands.

Wow, I forgot to hit send on that. I've made the tweaks already and will be deploying them later tonight.
