Logging in via Single sign on changes user names
See here: http://help.vzaar.com/home and attached.
Every time I change 'fairytalebox' to Maurico or ianjsnead to Ian to capatlise Mariusz or Mateusz, and they them access help directly from the vzaar platform it changes their names back to their vzaar IDs
Shouldn’t the name field stay changed if it’s manually changed?

Hi Adrian,
It sounds like your SSO payload specifies the user's name, which will always set it on the Tender user, just as it is for email. This is how we propogate name and email changes from your end. You can either stop providing a user_name or you can set their name to what you want it to be on your end and send that in the SSO payload.
Hope this helps,

So it works fine for users.
The problem is we’re all users of our own site, and it keeps change support users names too.
Any idea how to work around this?
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
I'm not sure I understand. You say "it works fine for users," but then ... are you saying it doesn't work the same for support users?

Hi,
So normal users who need support, the SSO give us their account details as we need it. This is fine.
However for supports, i.e. my team who answers questions, this keeps over writing their support name (seen in the image above) which is the opposite behaviour I want to see.
Does that make more sense?

Adrian,
What's the contents of your SSO payload? That is, which fields is your system passing in the encrypted token? The "name" and "email" fields in that payload will always override the users's corresponding values in Tender. That is how Tender stays synchronized with your system.
If you don't want a user's name to change you can just not pass a name in the SSO payload. Does that make sense?

The payload is the vzaar account name. Which is what we want so we can see which user we are dealing with.
I think the issues is we want to be able to show a more fixed display name for users who are flagged as support people, and override this behaviour for "support users"

Adrian,
Providing a name will always override the value in Tender, making an exception for supporters would be unnecessarily surprising. You can still work around this by not sending the name in the payload for supporter users.
Hope this helps,

Thanks Hobson,
I’ll look to do a work around for this.
