Some user responses show up as "No content."

I see this a couple times a week. I usually have to ask the user to repost via the web, these all seem to come from email responses. Here are a couple examples:

http://help.bombich.com/discussions/questions/1300-15gb-lost#commen...

On the last one, the attachment came through, but his message did not.

Thanks,
Mike

This is happening less frequently, though an occurrence today may shed some light on the problem:

Some people don't like "top posting", and they miss the text indicating that it is required. I'd like to propose that rather than plugging in "No content" when nothing is available above that line, Tender should instead post the entire email. I'd rather have parts of the original email that was sent to the user showing up in the discussion than nothing at all.

    Thanks!

Doing some testing on the same problem and came to discover that the blank line above the '[slash][slash]Add your reply above here' must be maintained. Delete it or the next line and the posted contents will be blank.

That this bug persists yet today is getting really frustrating. My users don't visit my Help Desk to shed praise on me (usually), they visit because they have a problem or a question. This bug leads to additional hassles!

Somewhere in your code you make a decision to set the message to "No content". Can you not add some logic there that instead:

    a. Posts the entire response, including parts of the original mail

    or

    b. Sends a reply to the user indicating that their message is invalid (I can't believe I'm even suggesting this)

Either of those methods would be far better than requiring me to ask the user to repost.

To make matters worse, in some cases when a user does not reply above the magic line, a completely new thread is opened. Come on, please fix this!

    Thanks,
    Mike

Yea! I noticed the "Original" link at the top of each email-based reply. I have verified that this allows me to see the complete response from the user. Thanks!!!

wrt "in some cases when a user does not reply above the magic line, a completely new thread is opened", that was actually my error, I replied from a different email account. Mea culpa!

    Hi Mike,

It appears you've already seen our update that we deployed last night to fix this (making the original email available), so if you don't mind I'll go ahead and close this.

Glad we could get this sorted out for you in our latest milestone.

    Thanks!
    Tim
