One deleted comment in a thread from me makes all my subsequent comments get automatically deleted!

Hi,

So, I reply to a customer (I work for Realmac Software), but somehow as I'm adding the reply, the checkbox to show this reply to staff members only gets checked by mistake, so I decide to delete the reply and put it in again normally, The trouble is, then every comment I now place in that thread is subsequently and automatically added to the deleted list!! I can no longer answer the customer in that thread. No amount or re-wording or editing makes any difference, all subsequent replies are deleted.

That makes life rather tricky....

With best regards,
Karn.

Did you delete or mark as spam? Can you link to the discussion in question and we'll take a look?

    Thanks,

    Hi Nicole,

I just deleted it. I have since I first did that, deleted permanently some of the replies I made, but there are still some to be seen.

    Karn,

I restored that comment in the discussion. Can you confirm whether or not the system is still deleting subsequent messages?

    Oh oh, it's not a one-off.

I replied to someone without checking the box that keeps it private to support staff, bu the reply came back as private. I only edited the reply this time, then made a new reply, and although at first it showed up as normal, it them auto deleted it again.

    Very odd this...

What OS/browser are you using? Are you making all replies in the UI? Any coming from email reply? Yes, this is definitely odd. If you can give me the best step by step you can recall we'll continue to try and recreate this to track down the problem. Right now I've not been able to recreate yet.

    Thanks,
    Nicole

I've had one more issue of it, but not now for a few days. I've been so busy I haven't worried about it.

The issues I had were in the UI with Chrome 15.0.874.12 dev in Mac oS X Lion 10.7.1, well that's the version of Chrome now, it might have updated! It might have been a specific version of Chrome dev that did it... Let's not worry unless I find it again.

Just to clarify what did happen, the key was it checked the first reply as a staff reply without me doing so, then any attempts to reply again or edit any thing, and the replies get deleted... really strange.

    With best regards,
    Karn.
