Setting Profile Pictures - What happened to this ability?
There used to be information about how to set one's profile picture, it was tricky but possible. Now that ability seems to have been either turned off or so well hidden that none of us can figure out how to get at it. This should be easy to do and right on the profile page. I even searched the FAQs and discussions and can't find a mention of it.
How can we do it now?

Oh, we may not have actually added it. We still use Gravatar for everything.

And there used to be some helpful information on the Profile page about setting up your Gravatar picture, right? Or was I just dreaming all that?
Either way, there is zero information now on how to set a profile picture for a user.

Hey Kevin,
Actually, I think you were just dreaming. Ha. It's one of those things we intended to add in on some polish to the profile/edit page for users when the app was still VERY new, but no one said anything for so long it just faded out of memory a little.
We'll get some things in motion to get this area cleaned up, which will include an explanation of gravatar inside the profile/edit area.

Ah, I found it. It's on the Site Settings page. Not exactly accessible for any users though. ;)
It would be nice if you guys could make the profile picture process as easy as setting an image on the profile page. I'm sure many people would use it since they're used to doing this on Twitter and other social networking tools. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up Kevin. I've filed a ticket so we'll discuss this one over pretty soon.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

It's very disconcerting that there's no instruction whatsoever on the "edit profile" page about how to get a picture for your account. I understand (and endorse!) your desire to stay focused on core features, but it should be pretty straightforward to add a one-paragraph "Want an avatar picture?" section on the top-right of the edit profile page (eg between the "Notifications" and the "View your public profile" page) with a link to gravatar.

Just implemented this. You should see it live in the next day or so.

Thanks Justin! I see the link now on the account settings page. Nice job!
Oddly enough, I just had a customer complain that they wanted to suppress their Gravatar picture on our forum but couldn't because it was attached to their email address. He wanted to just show his first name and that's it.
Sorry to get a feature and ask for one, but are there any plans to offer a switch to disable a profile picture?

We should have an upload option available in the near future. Over the next week or two a lot of concentration is going to go into our hardware upgrade that is coming up, once that is complete we'll be implementing a few of the polish and small features we've had pending, such as avatar uploading allowing you to get off gravatar.

Thanks. That sounds great. Best of luck on your hardware upgrade.

Thanks. We'll have a blog post up about it next week.
