Clarification on importing discussions and users

I have read the "Importing to Tender" article but I still have some questions.

  • There is no example how the category json file should look like.
  • There is no mentioning that the discussion can have a body, I assume they should have it, just like when creating discussion through the api.
  • Do all authors of discussions and comments need to be registered users? if so would their email show instead of their name?
  • Does the naming of user-files matter? If I already registered 3 users should then the first user-file start on 4 (ie users/4.json)?

And where should I create the discussion which I attach my import files to, in my project or in help.tenderapp.com? if the latter one, any preferred Category?

    I would like this information as well, I'm having problems importing from Google Groups. With the exception of a Catagory json example, I'm pretty sure everything else is correct

    also, does just attaching an appropriate zipped file to any discussion automatically start the import process? Is there a specific naming convention?

    cheers

    • The category json should look like this:

    {"name": "Questions and Discussions", "summary": ""}

    and have the same name as the category directory where the discussions are (ie questions.json and question/). I'll update the FAQ

    • The discussion body is actually the first comments body.
    • Authors don't need to be registered users, as tender allows for comments through just emails. If they are registered users however, the discussions will be attributed to them
    • The naming doesn't matter, it just impacts the order that the users are imported.

    Just create a normal discussion on tender in any category for importing and we'll get to it.

    Thanks!
