Question
Is there a way to set up my account where I get an email everytime a new discussions is created? So I can know to respond.
Discussions are closed to public comments.

Sure is! If you go to your profile page and click 'Edit Profile' there is a notifications section. Check all areas that you'd like to receive notifications for.
