Spam on the client side is handled by them. There isn't much we can control on that point. We use http://postmarkapp.com so we can track who is marking items as spam.
Incoming mail is processed through googles gmail spam services. On the web side, we use a 3rd party spam check and for anonymous users there is a captcha like question, items flagged as spam are marked in a spam folder in Tender so you can restore false positives if they occur.

Does this mean that we should be using gmail, and then forward the emails to you from our gmail account?
Or do you mean you guys are signed up with their PostNi service?
(so we don't have to do either of them)

Our incoming mail server uses their services, so anything you forward goes through the google spam check.

Wait, so when people send emails to me, they won't see [email blocked] will they?
Or will they see that when they reply? Or will replies still go to my email address?

No, they send to [email blocked] or whatever you setup, which then forwards to tenders email.
Responding depends, it's in the mail headers, you can setup a custom responder email, but it's not actually going back to [email blocked], it comes back to the tender email. So it is somewhat visible, but not something everyday users typically notice.

Ok for example I am replying to this via email right now using Gmail.
The To says '[email blocked] but the from said '
[email blocked] <tender%[email blocked]>
So to me it looks like I am replying to '[email blocked]' right now,
will mine be exactly like this or?

If you set the reply-to field in your Tender settings, it will show the email address you set it to, but the from/mail headers will show the tender discussions email address.

I see, so the reply-to field is really just for display purposes, but the
real address will be to a special tender email address.
I always thought that was a sign of spam b/c it is kind of tricking the
user.

Yes, it's just for visual purposes. We haven't really seen any kind of complications or questions from users about it.
