Start a discussion via the web interface with attachment

Hi,

because the email-based gateway was too spam-polluted, I recently turned off the configured email address and told all my users to use the web-based interface. If they want to start a discussion from within my application, I pre-populate the discussion with some basic facts about their environment (i.e. OS, app version, some configs, etc.) using a special URL.

This helps me a lot to get answers to my first three or four support questions. It would help me even more, if I could somehow programmatically also attach a file to the discussion—basically a zip of their log files. The file could easily be created on the user side... Is there a way to automatically attach this file to a new discussion, preferably via the URL I open their browser with? Just like I now automatically set subject and some of the body?

Thanks,

-hendrik

This is not actually possible due to browser security features. Otherwise it would be theoretically possible for a browser to upload files from a user's hard drive wihtout their permission.

I see. I guess I will just add a note to the pre-populated body asking users to attach stuff... Anyhow, thanks for the quick reply!!
