[FEATURE] Groups
From the Hoth blog:
Groups are something we've had on the initial roadmap from the start. We are now at the point where we're really happy with the current state of things in Tender, so groups is the first big step on the roadmap.
Support users will be able to add users to a group, such as a company, giving them access to private discussions they may have created.
Discussions are closed to public comments.

Will users belong to just one group, or can users belong to multiple groups? It will be really important to support organizations in filters, for both the search criteria and available actions.
Looking forward to this feature. Any estimates on when this will roll out?

One group only. That reminds me, we should hook up company as a search
field on users.
The code is mostly done on this. We're going through the first stages
of QA this week. There's also a fairly large database migration we
need to schedule some downtime for in order to ship this feature.

I am very excited about this new feature! Will groups automatically be set up by email domain or will we need to manually set who belongs in the same group one by one? Thanks!

I can see how it would be easy to establish groups by email domain for companies, but if people would like groups to represent customers, (e.g. Premium customers), then groups will need to accommodate disparate email addresses/domains.
It would be great to be able to mass invite people to participate within a group, perhaps by CSV upload of email addresses.
Even better would be a web API that would allow us to ping you with an email address, and then the customer would receive an invite link (that cannot be spoofed) to join our Tender within the appropriate group. The email could either come from Tender, or the invite link could be returned to us for integration into our standard "welcome" email.
On access, will you be restricting group access on a topic by topic basis, or restrict access by category?

Groups will extend the private issue feature. Right now if you email a private issue into Tender, it's tied to your user. With groups, anyone in the same group will be able to see it too.

Can a member of a group still submit a private issue?

Private to the individual person? No. This isn't designed so you can create groups like "Premium Users" or anything like that.
You can set arbitrary fields for users that are shown in discussions now through multipass SSO tokens. There are some problems with the way it's stored in the backend, but eventually you'll be able to filter on these attributes.

This is deployed now in an early, experimental state. If you want to play around with, let us know and we'll activate it for you.
