Allow inline images
We use inline images a lot - so much so, that some of our team members will use email rather than the tender web view. If we could attach inline graphics in the discussion body on the web that would be killer. it is really much better to send customers step by step instructions with images.
Above and beyond would be the ability to Copy and Paste rich text into the web discussion text box and have it retain the formatting and images for posting.

Can you define "inline images" for me? I'm not entirely sure what you mean.

Here is an Example of something we'd send out in support to a customer:
Thanks for asking about doing x. Here is how you can do x:
From the confabulator dialog, choose "configure".
A dialog appears:

Flip the confabulator to the on position.
The confabulator glows green and is now ready for your world domination attempt.

If you should have any further questions please let us know.

OK, so in the above example - we actually store a lot of RTF in our product MacJournal and then select and copy and paste the contents of the applicable item into an email. Sometimes we even add a video - gasp
could we make FAQ's of each of these and then link to those FAQ's - I guess so - but, a) that is one more step for the customer and b) they then don't have a copy of that issue to refer to. and c) if they asked multiple questions in one "discussion", which often happens, we'd basically respond with several of these very nice graphical how-to's rather than with a series of links to FAQ's
hopefully that explains what we are attempting to get here. I would think that it wouldn't be too tough to add an add an insert image control to the discussion text box that could ask for the upload - kinda like how the FAQ's have. Right now we'd need to attach a link to the picture using markdown and separately post the image to our server or we'd need to just post a bunch of non-inline images at the end of the text that would appear as mini-thumbnails.
thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback Corey.
I've been using skitch for quick screengrabs and markdown for inline images. It's worked very well, but your request makes a lot of sense for a grouped workflow. We've been talking about beefing up the assets manager in the FAQ, so it's possible we could add image cataloging for an easy way to search and paste in images, but it hasn't come up as a problem for many users as of yet.
We'll put this in our review pile for some upcoming revisions though.

Even without a "Grouped" workflow I think this is a valid request. I'm surprised you don't here more from folks who put inline images into their support responses - a picture is worth 1000 words :D - a lot of times we (I) take screengrabs of something to illustrate to a customer - It is much easier not to have to upload the image somewhere other than directly to Tender for that post - many of these screengrabs would fall outside the realm of "Asset manager" fodder since they'd be a one-time screengrab.
I think adding a button "Insert Image" that then uses the Markdown Spec for image insertion - pulls up a File dialog where you can select a file (would LOVE copy and Paste here...) and uploads the photo, would be sweet. The More WYSIWYG would be cool but if you need to just show the Markdown I'd understand.
From the Markdown Spec:
Inline image syntax looks like this:

I've added this to our request list. I'd like to see some form of inline image ability as well in the future.

Eval'ing Tender at the moment and I'd see this as a big hole (at least for us, if not many others). I just sent a mail to our tender support address with embedded images and they get extracted out and attached (1).
I'd also really like to be able to just paste images into the faqs I'm editing (2). (2) would probably be a higher priority than (1) but both would be good! :)
If there's any chance of any updates on this in the short term please let me know.
Thanks!

Hey Paul. Right now thing is set for the short term. As far as FAQs go, when you upload an imagine into the FAQ it gives you the URL to paste the markdown into the document. What did you have in mind?

Yes, As Will mentions the ability to put images into FAQ's is quite good it would be even easier to be able to cut and paste them in would be nice but I only know of a few web controls that allow cut and paste.
Beyond FAQ's, what we really want is the ability to have inline images in incoming mails and inline images in outgoing support emails - when you have a mail with lots of attachments that were once inline and referenced within the email it becomes quite complicated quickly. If the add image type support was brought from the FAQ page and into the email response window that would solve half of the problem. If the emails were parsed and inline images remained "inline" that would be the other 50% of the total solution.
Looking forward to the evolution of Tender.

I'n not sure how we'd handle that functionality off the top of my head. We're switching our js library in the near future so we'll probably be adding some new levels of polish in a lot of the tools and assets management once that is done.
